Alex's work has already been hailed as some of the most exciting being produced in the UK. Recently awarded Liberty award for 'Most Promising Newcomer '07 ' only proving her intense dedication to modern lighting.
"I've a real passion for what I do and I think this comes accross in my work. I've been incorporating lighting into sculpture for nearly 10 years and although people buy a light primarily as a useful object it's wonderful when it can also be a piece of sculptural art. The magnificent quality of light, the shadows and contrasts it creates can turn a piece into a truly exciting environment.
When I moved from London to Devon I was amazed by the amount of traditionally trained crafts people not making a living. Either they couldn't afford to compete with cheap eastern imports or their skills were unfashionable.
It was always important to me to create a company that believed in hands-on skills but also in fun, in the extreme and the ridiculous, that's what it is isn't it, a bit of ridiculous fun, well why be boring?"
